The Mining Oversight and Accountability Commission (MOAC)

Established by Senate Bill No. 493, the Mining Oversight and Accountability Commission was created to provide for a single administrative body to oversee the activities of the various state agencies that have responsibility for the taxation, operation, safety and environmental regulation of mines and mining in this State. It consists of seven members appointed by the Governor. Each commissioner serves a term of two years.

    The Commission provides oversight of compliance with Nevada law relating to the activities of each state agency with respect to the taxation, operation, safety and environmental regulation of mines and mining in the state of Nevada. The Commission also identifies particular state entities that are subject to the supervision of the Commission with respect to their activities related to mines and mining.
